Romanian Aeronautical Association, present at the Second ICAO NGAP Global Summit

The President of the Romanian Aeronautical Association, Diana Dumitrache, General Director of the European Aviation Institute and Chairman of the ICAO NGAP Strategy and Planning Group, took the floor in the ICAO Panel within the Second Global Aviation Global Summit ICAO NGAP 2 Summit (“Next Generation of Aviation Professionalls”), which was hosted by the People’s Republic of China during December 12th-14th, 2018.

It is estimated that the aviation industry will increase significantly over the next 20 years. In the near future, the global aviation community is expected to face a lack of skilled professionals. To help solve this problem, the global aviation organization ICAO launched the Next Generation of Aviation Professionals (NGAP) initiative.

Diana Dumitrache highlighted the need to implement NGAP programs in each of the ICAO countries in order to develop strategies to attract, train, educate and retain the new generation of civil aviation professionals, globally and regionally.

Co-hosted by the Shenzhen Municipality of Guangdong Province, the Chinese Aeronautics and Astronautics Society, and the Beihang University, the Summit has attempted to provide a unique opportunity to exchange information, discuss and state the importance of NGAP in implementing safety, security, air navigation, environmental protection and economic development in a constantly evolving global context.The Summit aimed to bring together the aviation, education and labor market community in order to generate the strategies and actions needed to involve, educate and retain the next generation of aviation professionals and also establish viable partnerships needed to implement these strategy.

The Summit was aimed at government officials responsible for aviation, transport, education and labor, as well as representatives of the aeronautical industry and academic and vocational training institutions.
